1984 Part 2 Chapter 4

Quote: "Both of them knew that it was lunacy. It was as though they were intentionally stepping nearer to their graves."(140)

Significance:

This quote shows that Winston and Julia are well aware of the fact that their love is a dangerous one, and yet they don't care. However, it is unclear as to why they don't care. Is it because they love each other so much that they're willing to die for their love? That's probably the most prominent reason, however I doubt that even they know why they're taking so many risks. This also contradicts how Winston said just chapters ago that he was done taking risks because he was in love. Now he's taking risks for the very same reason.
